Ted Williams Tunnel Westbound To Close For Required Overnight Work

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is reminding drivers of the planned overnight closure of the westbound Ted Williams Tunnel to occur at various times starting Sunday, August 21 through Friday, August 26.

On Sunday, August 21, Thursday, August 25 and Friday, August, 26, the westbound tunnel will close at 1AM and reopen no later than 5 AM.

On Monday, August 22, Tuesday, August 23 and Wednesday, August 24, the westbound tunnel will close at 11:59 PM and reopen no later than 5 AM.

Crews will be performing planned construction work inside the tunnel, which requires the closure of the tunnel to all traffic. 

Drivers are urged to detour through the Sumner Tunnel.

 

Also, from Sunday, August 21 through Friday, August, 26, the right lane between the I-90 Connector Tunnel and the entry portal of the Ted Williams eastbound tunnel will close between 10 PM and 1 AM. During those same days, there will be a double left lane closure in the same stretch of road between 1 AM and 5 AM.
