MassDOT invites the public to participate and comment on project
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) invites the public to participate in a Scoping Session for the South Station Expansion Project. MassDOT filed an Environmental Notification Form (ENF) with the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) Office on March 15. The filing is a major project milestone.
The MEPA office plans to hold a public session to gather comments on the document:
Monday, April 1, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
One South Station, 2nd floor (use the Atlantic Avenue entrance)
The meeting can be reached by public transportation at South Station. Signs will direct participants to the meeting on the second floor, which is reached via the Atlantic Avenue entrance.
This meeting is accessible to people with disabilities and those with limited English proficiency. Accessibility and language services will be provided free of charge, upon request, as available. Such services include documents in alternate formats, translated documents, assistive listening devices, and interpreters (including American Sign Language). For more information or to request reasonable accommodations and/or language services please contact Kerri Chace at email@example.com or 617-357-5772 x16. Please ask to speak with someone about the South Station Expansion project. More project information is available on the website: http://www.massdot.state.ma.us/southstationexpansion.
In the ENF, MassDOT outlines the potential environmental consequences of expanding South Station, as well as preliminary understandings of the transportation and other benefits that the public can anticipate from the project. Members of the public are encouraged to review the ENF – which is available in a variety of formats – participate in the meeting, and comment on the ENF.
Over the next three years, MassDOT will develop the plan and preliminary designs needed to expand and enhance the station. The potential for future economic development at and around South Station may also be analyzed. Urban design and streetscape improvements will be included in the project.
The ENF is available:
